Courses from start to finish
Redlands provides the complete progression route for training, with counselling courses from beginner level right through to post qualification CPD.
Check out the progression chart below to see all of our training at a glance.
Humanistic
Redlands counselling courses are underpinned by the humanistic approach. This includes theories such as person-centred therapy, Gestalt, existential therapy, solution-focused therapy and transactional analysis. We focus on the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client, as well as the innate resources of the client to solve their problems and achieve their potential.
Professional
Redlands has been established since 2008. All of our tutors are experienced, registered and qualified counsellors/trainers who have worked with us for many years.
Redlands is recognised by the two main professional bodies for counselling in the UK. These are:
CPCAB - Awarding Body for counselling courses
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) is the organisation that awards counselling qualifications and sets the syllabuses we use. Centres have to meet robust approval requirements before they can deliver qualifications. Redlands is one such centre. We offer CPCAB courses from entry Level 2 through to post qualification Levels 5 and 6, as well as a Continuing Professional Development workshop programme (CPD). You can see the qualifications that CPCAB cover on their website.
BACP – Professional Association for counsellors
When you study our Level 4 Counselling Diploma you need to become a student member of BACP, as the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is recognised by the BACP. Once you have completed this course, you are eligible for the BACP Certificate of Proficiency assessment. At this point you can apply to switch your BACP membership from Student Member to Individual Member. This is what you will need in order to work as a qualified counsellor. You can find more details about this on the BACP webpage.
