Humanistic Principles

This course will support counsellors who operate from a humanistic or integrative perspective. We incorporate coaching techniques aimed at broadening and enhancing practice, whilst at the same time upholding foundational humanistic principles. Carl Rogers' Core Conditions form the key tenets of these principles :

  1. Authenticity in Relationship: Counsellors must be genuine and congruent, fostering an environment of trust and openness.
  2. Respect for Client's Resources and Potential: It is crucial to belive in the client's inherent ability to initiate and sustain change. The approach discourages dependency on an 'expert' or an external locus of evaluation. Instead it promotes the client's self-directed growth.
