Short Course
5 Day Working with Young People
This Working With Young People short course will equip participants with the competencies described in the Stage 1: Introduction to Counselling Young People in the BACP ‘Counselling Young People (11-18 years) Training Curriculum’.
It is strongly recommended for anyone counselling, or planning to counsel, young people.
Objectives
The objectives are that upon completion of the course participants will:
- be able to operate within professional and ethical guidelines
- understand development of young people.
- understand mental health problems in young people
- have a full understanding of legal frameworks relating to young people, including issues of confidentiality, consent and capacity, child protection issues, risk assessments and contracts
- be able to work in the context of the setting
- be able to communicate with young people of differing ages and developmental level.
Facilitator
Anna Balistrari
Anna is a humanistic integrative counsellor and qualified young persons counsellor. She runs her own private practice and is a registered member of the BACP. Alongside her counselling work, she's also a trained youth worker and careers guidance practitioner, which means she brings a broad, holistic understanding of young people’s lives into her counselling work.
Anna has spent her entire career working with young people in roles across children’s services, family support, targeted youth work and youth voice. She has also managed and delivered a counselling service across three middle schools and one comprehensive school in Dorset.
Supporting young people through their challenges, choices and growth has always been at the heart of what Anna does.
