Humanistic Principles
The course is tailored to support counsellors who operate from a humanistic or integrative perspective. It incorporates coaching techniques aimed at broadening and enhancing practice, whilst upholding foundational humanistic principles. Key tenets of these principles are derived from Carl Rogers' core conditions:
- Authenticity in Relationship: Counsellors must be genuine and congruent, fostering an environment of trust and openness.
- Respect for Client's Resources and Potential: It is crucial to belive in the client's inherent ability to initiate and sustain change. The approach discourages dependency on an 'expert' or an external locus of evaluation. Instead it promotes the client's self-directed growth.
