Skills Training

Redlands provides personal skills training and support skills training.

Personal Skills Training

Our personal skills training courses are designed to help participants achieve their full potential for living. We can often be held back by the way we react to certain experiences, repeating patterns of behaviour which may not be helpful. Training can help break those patterns by raising personal awareness and exploring and practising choices for more helpful responses, resulting in a more fulfilling life.

We offer training designed to help participants develop skills, using the Functional Fluency model, in the following areas:

  • Assertiveness
  • Anger management
  • Managing stress

Support Skills Training

Our support skills training courses are designed to help participants help others when they are in a supporting role. We need to be aware of our own behaviours to make the most out of our supporting roles. Support skills training compliments careers and helps us progress and build confidence in our roles.

We offer training designed to assist those in helping practitioner roles such as nurse, teacher, care assistant, project worker, youth worker, outreach worker etc. by developing support skills using the Functional Fluency model in the following areas:

  • Assertiveness
  • Stress Management
  • Anger Management

Both types of course are offered as a series of ‘mini’ workshops, at the same place, time and day each week. This format offers flexibility and enhances learning.

We can also deliver tailored versions of these courses to specific organisations or groups, e.g. a one-day workshop on stress management skills or listening skills.

All courses are delivered by qualified and experienced counsellors and trainers.

Redlands is a centre recognised by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body.
